WOMEN IN TRANSITION
For Women in Transition, the theme of the 2007 Women Exchange Get-Together event, which addressed traveling restrictions within Thailand for migrant women, I worked with participants to create a short animation. This lead me to conduct new interviews and write Alis and Rosy in Wanderland, published in Ctrl+ magazine 2007.
Women and Cultural Identities
Another year, I invited participants to discuss about how culture and tradition defined identities. While some felt very close to traditions, other felt that culture and traditions were not static and that they themselves conceived of their identity as a sum of their experiences. One participant from a refugee camp made a Karen bag, because getting up and going was her life style, but she added a flap to the bag which s not part of the traditional design, pointing out that it was more practical, especially when moving a lot.
